The University of Nebraska–Lincoln's Flexible Hybrid framework for remote learning, developed for fall semester 2020, was featured as the first example on PhilOnEdTech.com by thought leader Kevin Kelly.

Kelly developed a Google Map with universities that had "HyFlex" (hybrid flexible) course implementations and suggests readers "learn from those who have put themselves on the HyFlex map."

Four faculty recorded presentations that provided examples of the flexible hybrid models:

  • Kathy Castle, communication studies, presented the model on Interconnected Tracks
  • David Harwood, geology, presented the In-Person Leading model
  • Katherine Nashleanas, geography, presented the Online Leading model
  • Manda Williamson, psychology, presented on Parallel Tracks

Kelly called the presentations "an important extra step...[that] is enormously helpful to faculty who have no idea what to expect."

Castle, Harwood, and Williamson are Teaching Academy Fellows. All of the Fellows contributed to the development of the college's approach.
