Drashti Bhatt and Amelia Montes have earned the first two CAS Mentoring Awards.

Established in 2019, the award honors faculty or staff involved in mentoring activities that go above and beyond expectations. Criteria can include effectiveness in mentoring others through challenging circumstances, mentoring significant numbers of people, or contributing to the development of a mentoring culture. Two awards are given each year, one to a faculty member and one to a staff member.

Bhatt is the Director of IT, Data Analytics and Application Development in the Dean's Office of the College of Arts and Sciences and leads the college's tech support team.

Montes is an associate professor of English and ethnic studies who is an Americanist scholar and fiction writer interested in narrative contexts that complicate and contradict national, social, and personal identities.
